When you go to an Italian a restaurant the wise move is to order what they are known for...That being said I should have ordered pasta. I didn't of course. I chose the short rib with sour cream mashed potatoes. I swapped out the peas and carrots for sautéed spinach. It was a safe choice. The short rib was very tender. It didn't really stand out with flavor but it filled me up. The mashed potatoes were very creamy, no flavor but mixed in with the gravy from the short rib helped. The spinach had no flavor although it was supposedly cooked with garlic. I used salt and pepper and I asked for some white vinegar. That helped immensely. My friend ordered the pasta ala vodka which is her favorite. It did look mouth watering with a nice heap of Parmesan on top. The desert I had was the cookie crumb(?) gelato. I think that's what it was called. It was hands down amazing. I should have gotten two scoops and started and ended with that:) What I personally enjoyed the most there was the customer service. Michelle was our waitress and she was such a delight. She really went out of her way to make sure my friend enjoyed her birthday dinner. She was really a sweetheart and was accommodating when we had request. The bar tender or manager was wonderful also. As soon as I walked in the door I gave him the name the reservation was made under and he remembered talking on the phone with me. I had a drink I really wanted and I showed the recipe to him because he was behind the bar at the time. He didn't have one of the main ingredients but that didn't stop him from making it and substituting another ingredient to make it for me. The drink was delicious and he personally brought it to my table. Honestly everyone who from the bartender, waitress, and the staff that brought our actual food to the table were absolutely wonderful. I would absolutely go back there again, but I think I will order pasta the next time.

I ended up at this restaurant due to a meeting. I had in the area. There weren't too many choices except for this one and a couple others, and I decided to go Italian. Due to the recommendations of the hotel. And boy was I not disappointed. I sat down at the bar and it was already hustling and bustling. I decided to start out with something different and got a pair martini. It was delicious. Then I smelled it that beautiful garlic cheese bread and I had to order it. Man was that delicious. I think I ate the entire basket before they came back for my entrée. I decided to order the chicken piccata which they made special for me as they don't have it on the menu. As you can see the portions were quite large and it looked amazing. As I dove into it, I found myself shell filling the food in my mouth because it was so good. this place is awesome, the bartender was really nice and having fun conversations with the folks sitting around me made the evening delightful. You definitely will have fun here!

The service was amazing from the greeting to end of the meal. The food was just good - I wish it was better. The shrimp fra diavlo was a little too seasoned/spicy - I wish they let the seafood shine more and ditched the sausage. The Rose Pasta was a bit bland. The cheesy garlic bread was good, it is garlic - but nothing special. I would try it again because I can tell everyone who works there really cares. Food 3 Stars Service 5 stars

Jimmy Cosgrove and his Staff did not miss a beat on a packed New Year's Eve Night at the Downtown Hartford Location. Food, Service was excellent. Every staff member had a smile on their face and could not have been more accommodating. A special kudo to Lisa the hostess. No easy job, when people are coming in non-stop (not sure if all had reservations). She was so pleasant and professional. The Food was delicious, and they had some great specials for the Holiday. You cannot go to Salute without ordering their famous garlic and cheese bread. My grandson and I quote thought it was "heavenly" The Peppercorn Shrimp Special was amazing, and my daughter had her all-time favorite the Sweet Potatoe Ravioli. Thank you to Jimmy and Staff for a wonderful New Year's Eve Dinner and experience. We will see more of you in 2025!

We decided to come here on a Friday night but a reservation was necessary so we ended up waiting an hour. They gave the table nice bread but was not a fan of their butter. I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce and it was solid. The pasta on other dishes was solid as well. I was not a fan of their base pinot noir wine. They had a holiday egg nog creme brule and that was great I also got to try the tiramisu which was not bad. They also sent us on our way with cheese bread to bake at home and biscotti. This place is not badly priced for a restaurant in Hartford so if you want Italian and can get a reservation this is the place to go.

attended a happy hour work event here and the staff was great. the event chose a buffet style option and I was so busy networking I didn't have a chance to try the food but the owner was suggesting we all take a to go container and take home what we wanted. I asked what dishes were vegetarian and although there were a few great options for me to take home he insisted he wanted to make me a special to go vegetarian dish. went out of their way to show exceptional hospitality and the dish was amazing! I don't live in the direct area but wanted to express my appreciation and share the top rate service and food!

Had ordered takeout through my work for months for our guests and had never actually eaten there until recently. Finally took my girlfriend there for dinner and it was absolutely incredible. We didn't have a reservation but Jimmy (the owner) quickly found us a cozy table near the bar. We split a bottle of wine, and ordered the Caesar salad, cheesy garlic bread, and pasta a la vodka. All the food was delicious, and with the huge portions I had leftovers for lunch the next day. Our server Brandon was polite and took great care of us. 10/10 would recommend if you're in the Hartford area.

Place was great! It was packed because they had a private event which took up most of the space. But the service was incredible, food was great, they answered any questions we had and also gave recommendations. I went to celebrate my friends birthday and they even gave us free dessert and cookies to celebrate her! Would definitely come back and I liked how you could wear whatever, either be super casual or be dressed up to the nines. I'll definitely be coming back.

Food-10/10 Service- 9/10 Ambiance- 9/10 I would DEF return if I'm in the Hartford area. This establishment made my short trip a wonderful experience. The espresso martini was the perfect way to end a tasty meal. The menu was the definition of short and sweet. The food was tasty ! Try the sun dried tomato butter OMG I haven't had anything like it!!! My only advice is don't sit in an area where you aren't seen. :-) Would def recommend. 2 thumbs up
